Made it to Tucson, just in time for it to get national coverage :(

If you didnt know Tucson before, you probably know of it now. I got into town on Friday, and barely had enough time to sign my lease, unpack my car, then go for a short ride before bed. Colin and I got up early (6am) to make the infamous "Shootout" group ride that leaves at 7:30am from Tucson center. We had a great time, turns out a lot of people that I know are living in town, or at least here for extended training blocks.

Anyways, We find out after the ride that we basically rode right through the massacre that has made Tucson the center of national attention. It is terrible. Luckily we didnt witness anything, but I feel terrible for those who were victims of this crazed man. To say the least, we were a bit scared for our safety after hearing of this shooting and we did a fair bit of research to figure out if we were living in a safe part of town. We were originally turned off by out apartment complex because we saw a drug deal go down when we were sitting in the parking lot waiting for out landlord to show up, the gunning just pushed us over the top. It was terrible, but kind of relieving to hear that this shooting was an one off occurrence and in fact that we are living in the safest part of town... even if our apartment isnt that spectacular looking from the outside, and that violence is mainly between drug dealor and it rarely crosses over to innocent cyclists like myself.

So I started driving to Tucson from my moms house in Hillsboro NH and I did my best to take a cool photo in every state that I passed through along the way. Im making a picture post and it will be up in the next few days. here is one image from that collection.
